The debut single from UK singer-songwriter Chris Hornsby, ‘I Was Hoping I’d Run Into You’ is a strong start from the London based artist. His vocal – almost immediately entering the track after an excellently punchy start – brings a warm feel to proceedings, complimented by the country based acoustica that surrounds it.
In fact, ‘warm’ is a word that can be used throughout the song, with a common story to tell about waiting for love. And the chorus, when it comes, is a textbook example of a short, elegant hook to bring the listener in. This isn’t a one off either, his skill with a good chorus also on show on the two b-sides to the single as well.
Out now, ‘I Was Hoping I’d Run Into You’ is a real positive start from a new talent worth keeping an eye on – we look forward to hearing what might come next.
