Shotgun Holler is a bluegrass band unlike any other out of Kentucky and Ohio. Shawn Brock founded the band back in 2014 and plays mandolin and harmony vocals. Matt Jones is on the guitar and is the lead singer. Rod Lunger does the bass/harmony vocals, Nathan Treadway on the banjo and Alex Benefiel plays the fiddle and harmony vocals.

This isn’t your every day bluegrass band that blends in with all the rest. Shotgun Holler strives to stand out and push the boundaries of a great genre. Their songwriting doesn’t cover your typical topics that you’ve heard before in traditional bluegrass, they touch on some darker subject matter such as prostitutes and drug addiction. Plus they cover pop songs that you wouldn’t expect to be easily translated to bluegrass but they do it seamlessly in the cover of Miley Cyrus ‘Wrecking Ball’ which they performed on CMT’s Josh Wolf Show.
You can see all of Shotgun Holler’s authenticity and originality shine through on the debut album ‘Loaded’ which was just released on September 18th on Lonesome Day Records. Their masterful talents and cutting edge style blend perfectly like a beautiful bluegrass harmony to create an amazing sound and album. These guys are a real breath of fresh air in one of the most iconic American genres.
Be sure to pick up the new album and you can hear them on Sirius FM’s Bluegrass Junction.
