Personally, I love playing upbeat music as I start my day, brewing the coffee, frying eggs, and making toast. I have a whole playlist dedicated to it. After watching the music video for the new Sasha’s Bloc single, “Breakfast,” I’ll be sure to add it to my playlist.

“Breakfast” is just the right combination of smooth and peppy to put a smile on your face and get you excited for your morning meal when you still wish you were curled up in bed fast asleep. Grammy nominated vocalist Jane Monheit’s voice is borderline seductive as she paints a beautiful and delicious picture in the listener’s head. Her tone and vibrato are as warm and rich as the cup of chocolate she describes.
Musically, the song is cohesive yet leaves enough room for each part to shine. The trumpet and clarinet players are featured especially well, supported by a great collection of instruments, from saxophone to banjo. The pianist’s delicate playing adds a lighthearted weightlessness to the song, while bassist and songwriter Alex Gershman’s steady hand and walking bass lines hold everything together.
I would definitely recommend “Breakfast” to big band jazz lovers who need a little extra motivation when it comes to the most important meal of the day.
