Dear Muzic,
Sorry it took so long to reply to your inquiry about how I had the opportunity to sit and talk with Al Hendrix. It's finally nice weather here in Seattle and gettting outside to enjoy it. Anyway, like I said it was 1985 and I was 18 yrs. old. I was in a bar called Jocko's in Renton, Wa. (I had fake ID)LOL. Good times! So me and my best friend were sitting there and she looked at the bar stools and said," that's Al Hendrix" I said "No Way! and she said "Sure is, I dare you to go ask if you can buy him a drink" I said " Watch me!" So I go up to the bar and leaned over and said "my chicken friend over there dared me to come up here and offer to buy you a drink". He said "Oh Yeah?" and I said " Oh Yeah." He said "put your money away little lady, take a seat and let me buy you a drink". So he orders me a Bartels and James wine cooler, were talking 1985 here hehe. So I sat down and my friend and everyone else at the table behind us were blown away. Me and Al sat there for 2 hours talking about everything. He finally told me after about and hour that his home and just recently been broken into AGAIN and he couldn't understand why people would try to take the few things he had left. He had already been robbed of just about everything including his name. He was just a regular guy who loved his son and wished he was still alive. He enjoyed talking with people, he just was tired of being robbed by people trying to make a buck off his son. The memories he shared with me were sweet memories of when Jimi first started playing the guitar and how amazing he was at it. But also of him riding his bike as a kid and how he lost him to "the business" that is rock and roll. Not the wonderful music and artistry, not even the lifestyle but the bloodsucking leaches that take these young people and use them to their advantage. You throw $100 gs at a young person and put them on a stage and give them anything they want and there in Heaven. While in the backrooms and alleys they are selling these peoples souls and making deals without their knowledge, just saying "Sign here Kid, trust me, I'll watch out for you. By the way, you're 18 right?" Luckily for a lot of people we had Clive Davis and David Foster, reputable business men. But there are a lot of snakes out there. So, to sum it up, sorry I rambled, it makes me see red sometimes! Al was a nice man and I had a wonderful time catching a buzz with him and listening when he needed someone to vent to. I guess that was my lucky day. By the way I'm really diggin this site even more now, gonna make time to read more about it. Heading to Vegas next week. Maybe I'll get lucky and run into an idol there. My dream conversation would be to sit with Joey Kramer! He's a really wonderful human being. If you get a chance, check out his autobiography. It's AWESOME!
Sincerely,
Shari Alfarone Wasson

Shari... you've brought up a lot of amazing points! the thing with Hendrix... is i've heard that they discovered recently that his manager i believe basically murdered him by overdosing him to make more money off of him. i heard that on the radio somewhere... if that's true that incredibly pisses me off! either way though it's definitely really sad that all these talented people die so early, makes me wonder what kind of amazing music they could have contributed later in there life. so how did you have that amazing opportunity to talk with Jimi's father? and thanks for saying you like the site, that means a lot to us :D please help spread the word if you'd like

There is so much speculation on what this club curse could be. I know that when I read about Amy Winehouse had passed the first thing I did was check to see how old she was. The 27 club entered my mind instantly and I haven't thought about it for a long time. I really think it is just a lot of carelessness unfortunately. I knew there were several more people other than the most famous but we did have 3 who originated from the Northwest. Mia Zapata, Kurt Cobain and of course Jimi (no last name necessary) I did have the opportunity to spend a few quiet hours with Jimi's dad talking back in 1985 and as a parent of a legend he believed it was just a reckless lifestyle. Parents know their kids! The music industry did rape and pillage Jimi and his family, literally! After his unfortunate death, people kept coming after Al Hendrix and stole things right out of his home. He seemed to be a broken man at that time after just having his home broken into for what little he had of his boy. Kurt was also in a lot of physical pain. He had serious stomach pain that he couldn't deal with and I know that coming from Aberdeen, a small town on the coast of Washington State that he just wanted to be left alone and free of pain. Anyway, I don't think it's a curse even though we all love a mystery. It's just sad that Francis Bean Cobain doesn't have a dad, Courtney Love doesn't have her best friend and husband, Al Hendrix doesn't have his boy and Mia Zapata was brutally murdered in a fairly safe city and all her friends and family miss her greatly. I don't believe they ever found her killer either. Not sure about that one. Let's all learn from these tragedies and help change the music industry from acting like vultures circling the suffering and leave these son's and daughters alone. Let the creative be creative and support their craft by not supporting moguls looking to profit from these amazing artists. Show the Love! By the way, just found this site and gotta say, "I like it". Found it by reading some incredibly vapid comments. Thanks for stearing me here.
