  • About & History:  Music is meant to invoke the thoughts of the listener, and it is meant to touch the listener in ways that life may not be able to touch the listener. There are still a handful of artists that are able to connect to their listeners and relate to the listeners. Enter Xxodys. Xxtraordinary Xpression Of a Driven Young Souldier, who Xecutes Xcellently, One Day You'll See. What will you see? You will see a product of the Golden Era of Hip Hop. You will see an emcee that is original and believes in originality in his music. You will hear an emcee with many influences, from life to entertainment, to music. You will hear the lyrics and thoughts of the "savage poet".
This Sparta (by way of Milledgeville), Georgia native has always been musically inclined. He first started listening to hip hop at the age of 10. His brother-in-law changed his life by introducing him to the D.O.C. and his album "No One Does It Better". Xxodys heard the D.O.C. and was instantly mesmerized by what he heard. He explains, "After hearing the D.O.C.'s album, I knew that rapping was something that I wanted to do. I knew that it took a lot of creativity and for someone my age, the way that the rhymes were created and delivered was an exciting thing to hear". After hearing the D.O.C., and subsequent releases such as "The Chronic", "Enter The Wu Tang", "2pacalypse Now", "Ready To Die", "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" and many other hip hop classics, Xxodys decided that he wanted to definitely be an emcee.
It was at Fort Valley State University where Xxodys really began to separate himself from the hip hop artists that were emerging at that time. In 1998, Xxodys and a close friend won WFVS radio's competition to be the opening act for Fort Valley State's Homecoming (1998). It was a dream come true for Xxodys because he and his friend got to open up for the Goodie Mob. Xxodys recalls, "I still get goose bumps thinking about that show. At the time, we had a lot of adversity that we were dealing with. To be able to come together and really perform at a high level, even as the opening act was special. That's a memory and performance that I will cherish for the rest of my natural life." After this performance, Xxodys continued to write and perform at various open mics and poetry readings. The "savage poet" continued to record and produce even while moving from different areas to finally settle in Cartersville, Georgia. In 2009, Xxodys (under a different stage name) opened up the Malcolm X Grassroots Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Xxodys explains, "It was an absolute honor, privilege, and blessing to be able to perform at the Malcolm X Grassroots Festival for a man that I consider to be a hero." This performance really inspired Xxodys, and it was one of the main reasons that shaped how his upcoming projects would be recorded. In 2012, Xxodys submitted music to the 12th Annual Independent Music Awards. Xxodys has always been a renaissance emcee, and an emcee that has been grounded in reality.
Xxodys is an emcee that loves hearing a message in music, and one that loves delivering a message in music by speaking on subjects that all people can relate to and identify with. Xxodys says "I have always believed in giving the people something that they can not only feel, but carry with them. You never know someone's story, and they may hear something in the music that reminds them of where they've been, and it might even remind them of where they're going. That's why I keep the focus on not only the beats and production, but of the lyrical content and value as well because you never know who you may reach." This very mind state will be the absolute reason why Xxodys, the savage poet, will reach a lot of people. "I will know that I have done my job as an artist when I have made a slither of a difference through my music. When someone can listen and know that they may have been through something that I rhyme or talk about, I know that I have done my job. I also know the beauty and power of good hip hop." Xxodys is here. The savage poet is ready to speak. The question is; will you listen to what he has to say?
