Artist Interviews
  • MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
    • BJ Smith: I was lucky enough as a child to be exposed to a wide array of music from classical, gospel, rock, soul, blues and R&B. As far as Artist, I loved greats like Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Bill Withers, Al Green, Johnny Guitar Watson, Barry White, Nina Simone, Pattie Labelle, Donnie Hathaway, Ray Charles, Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Cameo, George Clinton, Parliament / Funkedelic The Time, Rick James, Bob Marley, The Gap Band, Michael McDonald, D’Angelo, Raphael Saadiq, Tyrese, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, John Legend, Adele, Andrea Bocelli, Prince, Lauryn Hill, Take 6 Babyface, Brian McKnight, Ed Sheeran, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Meshell Ndegeocello.
  • MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
    • BJ Smith: Becoming an “influencer” to future generations and acknowledgement and respect from my musical inspirers. I want to inspire people to want to sing, make music, or at least respect and love each other just a little more. And hopefully I can touch there mind, body, heart, and soul with my voice, my lyrics, and my message. I believe if I can inspire something positive, or help someone get through a moment, then I’ve just paid it forward to the world and maybe together, we can all get lost through emotional infinite connections. This helps to make your musical legacy timeless, and that award is omnipotent.
  • MuzicNotez: What is your latest release?
    • BJ Smith: My Album Real Life Issues, is an emotional cleanse. Its a unisex culmination of an emotions stemming from love, lust, friendship and sexual, interaction within the human experience between men and woman while sifting through the obstacles of maintaining and enduring romance through relationships coupled with the contemplation of life choices after the honeymoon phase has passed in the relationship.
  • MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
    • BJ Smith: I’ve got some collaborations with other Artists in the works, along with some festival and Tour appearances nationwide and globally. And of course I’m always writing towards that next release! Please keep up with me and catch me at a show near you. For more upcoming details, check me out on my website: www.bjsmithmusic.com
