MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.
Who are the members of this group? What are your specific rolls?
Hiddin Nation: Our band consists of 3 artists.
CiiCMAYD, singer and lyricist, his dark Gothic style and incredible voice dominate the music industry and resonate in your soul.
With hits such as “Star People” “Gloria”, and “What a Feeling”, CiiCMAYD is not a name you are likely to forget anytime soon.
Kash Klay, a D-town veteran who overcame the life in order to bless you people with amazing music.
“Texas Made”, “Bring it Back”, “Let it Go”, “Coming From that D-Town” and “It’s Me” are just a few of the bangers in his arsenal.
Finally, Grime Minister, a master lyricist gritty enough to give truth to the streets, and light up your mind.
When you hear “Daywalker’, “Flesh of My Flesh” (featuring JaCor), “Dominate”, and “Star People”, his lyrical prowess and artistry are apparent.
MuzicNotez: How did you meet and form up?
Hiddin Nation: This story actually begins in the early 80’s when Grime Minister and Kash Klay began their life long friendship at the tender age of five.
Klay and Grime’s mothers were good friends, and the two grew up together and developed their love of music over the years.
From then on, the individual struggles of Grime and Kash would not hinder their steady rise to success.
In 2006, Kash Klay’s first album “Grind Time” was an underground release that flowed thru the streets of Dallas-Fort Worth, creating a buzz that would eventually be the basis of the Group’s notoriety.
In 2008, the two would gain momentum when fate intervened to introduce CiicMAYD into the picture.
MuzicNotez: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
Hiddin Nation: Kash Klay started recording music in 2000, which greatly influenced G. Minister.
In the beginning CiicMAYD was a world away, in California’s Inland Empire or “The I. E.” as it’s called, creating his music out of his own personal love.
MuzicNotez: How did you come up with the name Hiddin Nation?
Hiddin Nation: The name Hiddin Nation was coined by G. Minister during his studies of ancient knowledge.
And the name signifies a hidden nation of God-Kings.
The unique spelling was chosen because CiiCMAYD wanted to specify that ours is a nation hidden (hid in) within.
MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
Hiddin Nation: Through the years we were influenced by various artists from the South, East, and West coasts such as The Ghetto Boys, UGK, D.O.C., Run DMC, LL Cool J, Tupac, NWA, Public Enemy, KRS-1, 8 ball and MJG, Al Green, Jimi Hendrix and Earth Wind and Fire just to name a few.
MuzicNotez: You have a unique sound, what would you consider your genre to be?
Hiddin Nation: We are an eclectic group. Our music ranges from traditional Hip-Hop, Rap, R & B Collaborations to the creation of our own genre, which we like to call “Hip-Hood-Rock” or “Hip-Rock”.
MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
Hiddin Nation: Initially we created music as personal hobbies, it wasn’t until the success of Kash Klay’s 2006 release of the “GRIND TIME MIXTAPE” that they realized the effect their sound had on the masses.
The rest is history…
MuzicNotez: What have you been working on recently? Any new releases?
Hiddin Nation: The newest song we have is “Flesh of My Flesh” written by Grime Minister, featuring JaCor. This R & B collaboration is proof the versatility of the group.
Our newest single as a group is Evolverz, which embodies our vision and a group and as developing souls struggling through this human experience.
We recently shot a music video called Star People. It’s a fun track, but as usual the lyrics are dripping with substance.
Daywalker is another track we are especially proud of. We feel it’s a track that most people can relate to, as it describes what we all go through, in the day to day, and inspires the listener to rise above it.
MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
Hiddin Nation: Stay Tuned! We are anticipating the release of our first Group album “Star People” this year, in 2014.
We are also working on our individual albums, which will be released by the end this year.
