Zeta ShaM

  • MuzicNotez: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us.

You go by Zeta ShaM, where did that name come from?

    • Zeta ShaM: Well I have always went by ShaM. That has stuck with me since the beginning of high school from one of my best friends. As I became more serious about making music as an artist, I changed my rap name to ShaM. I decided to make that mean something and describe me as an artist, and so S.H.A.M means Some Hear A Meaning. And, that I believe is the definition for all music in general. Everyone judges your art in his or her own way. But, as time passed and I became a signed artist by TigerBloodMuzik Uk , I had to make myself even more unique so that I was easily searched and found on the internet. I am currently apart of a movement called Zeta Class Music Group as well that was created by another friend of mine and so it was only right that I added the Zeta along with ShaM to make the full name.
  • MuzicNotez: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin?
    • Zeta ShaM: My friends! I just simply thought there were super cool and I wasn’t. I started in junior high believe it or not at the age of 12. Everyday after school I would go to their house and do homework while they wrote rhymes and recorded and I always thought to myself man I can do that too! Homework can wait! So one day I asked to do a song with them and it became history in the making since that day. I wasn’t very good at all and it took me along time to find myself as an artist but I just fell in love with the art and the process of creating a song. So, that alone was always my motivation to get better.
  • MuzicNotez: Who were your musical influences, idols, or bands growing up that have helped mold you into the musician you are today? Or helped mold the music that you create?
    • Zeta ShaM: This answer might be shocking, but I am a hip hop artist. But, I wish I were a singer because I love melody. I cater a lot of the songs I make to melody although I rap. I can hold a tune, but I am no singer. I grew up mostly listening to R&B, Blues, and Hip Hop. My favorite artist of all time is Michael Jackson. My favorite R&B artist right now is Chris Brown. My favorite rapper of all time is 2-Pac. My favorite rappers right now are Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Big Sean, ASAP Rocky, Joey Badass, and J-Cole. But, I’m more of a fan in that sense. I don’t listen to too much rap music because I feel like I will start to copy what someone else does, so I listen from a distance and take some stuff in. Mostly, I have always tried to figure out my own path to making music. But, a lot has influenced me.
  • MuzicNotez: What’s the ultimate goal you want your music to achieve, or for you to achieve in your career as a musician? Any particular message you wish to send?
    • Zeta ShaM: I want to be legendary. I want dedicated fans that know all of my songs by heart. I want to give back to my city and make it a better place. I want to be a positive voice and tell my story. I want people to accept and appreciate my craft and my ambition. When it’s all said and done, I want people to say I was a great artist and an even better person in general. I don’t worry about fame, awards and money because that comes with all of the things I just said. It’s a given. If I do right and be true myself, there is no doubt God will reward me and those around me.
  • MuzicNotez: It’s hard to label you under one genre, how would you describe your sound?
    • Zeta ShaM: This is hard to answer lol. I feel like my style of music and genre doesn’t have a name yet. I can say I am very unique and I sound like no one else. You really have to focus in on what I am saying. I like to hide stuff in my lyrics. I live for word play, a true hip-hop vibe with melody and a hint of jazz at times. Maybe one day I’ll invent a name for my style of rap for everyone that caters to that logic of making music.
  • MuzicNotez: Your new EP ‘The Delorean’ just dropped on September 14th. How did you come up with the name? What’s the motivation behind this release?
    • Zeta ShaM: One of my favorite movies of all time is “Back to the Future”! So, of course that’s where I got the name Delorean. Its one of my favorite cars for this simple reason, it’s one of the only few cars that has ever been created that came from a movie so great that people heavily prefer the classic versus the newer versions. Getting a newer version of a Delorean is not cool in the eyes of the die-hard “Back to the Future” fans. This car will literally live forever. So with that being said I compare my EP to just that. I wanted my EP to feel authentic and have the best potential to become a classic. It feels like a roller coaster and takes you all over the place in just 6 songs. I wanted it have a chance to live in the past, present, and future.
  • MuzicNotez: You also just released your new website www.ZetaSham.com, what can your fans expect to find there?
    • Zeta ShaM: My fans can expect to get to know me better as an artist. It’s everything ShaM. I created it myself from scratch so its like my baby. I am currently a Graphic and Web Design Senior in college so I do a lot of my own promotion design and everything. I made the actual “Delorean” cover. So, expect my website to constantly evolve and get bigger and better as my catalog grows. If you are a legit Zeta ShaM fan you will be able to keep up with what I’m doing best from my website.
  • MuzicNotez: What else are you working on? What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
    • Zeta ShaM: Music wise, I am just living life to gain enough influence and new experiences to come up with more songs to start on my album soon. If I can’t talk about what goes on in my life and around me I can’t make music. That’s how I write and come up with concepts. But, I am in no rush with the album since I dropped my mix tape “Ninety-3″ in December and “The Delorean EP” in September of this year. I am focused on building my brand, promotion tactics, planning a tour or join a tour to perform from these two projects, making music videos and radio play. While, doing this you can expect the album to show up definitely, but when that happens I have no clue. It will be entitled “Some Hear A Meaning” that’s as far as I have thought about it lol.
  • MuzicNotez: Anything else you wish to say about yourself or your music? Any message for your fans?
    • Zeta ShaM: Only thing I would love to say is thanks as always to my fans for always supporting me and being there for me. My fan base is dope because they love to have their brain challenged at times and vibe out at other times. I don’t limit myself to anything really I am an artist not a just a rapper and they respect that about me. I am versatile and I love to try new things. And, I always make sure everything I release is a great representation of me and gives me the best opportunity to gain more fans and keep the ones I have happy. At the end of the day, I know I can’t please everyone but music is my outlet. And no matter what there’s always someone out there who can relate. So, yeah just be expecting more things from me in the near future and I’m always grateful for the love and support.
